In 1960 the company was founded by Kurt Birkhahn and Hans-Hermann Nolte as the engineering consultant Birkhahn + Nolte in Kremperheide (district Schleswig-Holstein), with the special focus on hydraulic engineering and water management. Since then, the company has constantly expanded their competences.

In 1990 the enigneering consultant Birkhahn + Nolte Ingenieurgesellschaft mbH enlarged by a new dependance in Rostock in the district Mecklenburg-Vorpommern.
Mid 1990s
Furthermore, we are operating abroad since the mid-nineties.
2010
In 2010 the established company in Germany was converted according to the German Transformation Act (UmwG) into the two companies: BN Umwelt GmbH, Rostock and BN Umwelt GmbH, Kremperheide.
